About HASSRA

What do we do?

With over 70,000 members, HASSRA is one of the biggest sports and recreational Associations in Europe. Our experience in providing quality events and competitions has arguably made us the premier Departmental Association for Civil Servants.

HASSRA membership is split into 12 Regional Associations – see the HASSRA Organisation Chart. If you visit any of our 12 regional pages, you will find them packed with information about local offers, details of social events plus trips to the Continent e.g. Disneyland Paris often at sizeable discounts. Some of our Associations offer access to workplace fitness rooms or have negotiated health club/gym discounts.

Many of us visit London but did you know that HASSRA are able to offer discounted tickets for the London Eye and River Cruise Experience?

Regions are supported by the HASSRA Corporate Services (HCS) team who have a variety of roles including management of the HASSRA Lottery, HASSRA Intranet, Editorial Office for HASSRA Headlines, national Membership Benefits…..the list is endless! So, if you need help contact HCS.

As a HASSRA member you will receive a copy of our quarterly bulletin HASSRA Headlines which is free to all members and provides news and views about what is going on throughout the organisation. It also often carries competitions for members with some extra special prizes on offer to winners. Trips to the Caribbean, Lapland and the theatre have all featured!

One highlight in the HASSRA annual calendar is our ‘Special Event’. The very first Special Event was held at Derby Baths, Blackpool in 1963, times have certainly changed since then but the momentum has continued.

At Special Event representatives from each Regional Association compete in a series of sporting and social competitions. The events vary each year and reflect the wide range of activities that HASSRA organises. The competitions are played in a competitive but friendly spirit and the whole event is rounded off with a presentation evening.

The Director’s Trophy is presented for the best team performance. Why not take a look at the Roll of Winners?

The next Special Event will be hosted by HASSRA South East in 2010 – don’t forget to look out for updates on the Intranet.

All this can be yours for £1.80 a month, so if you are not a member why not join us?
